A few years ago, I started thinking more seriously about my future. I realised my pension probably wouldn’t be enough for me to keep the same lifestyle later on, and I didn’t want to reach retirement feeling I had to think about every expense.
I wasn’t looking for another job, and I certainly didn’t want to start again from zero. What I wanted was another way to create income for the years ahead.
My background is in physiotherapy, and for many years I’ve worked with dogs and canine rehabilitation. For a long time, I simply saw all that knowledge as part of my work. I didn’t really think about whether I could use it in another way.
But once I started to understand how some of what I knew could be packaged and shared with other people, things began to make more sense.
That experience eventually became the foundation for books, online education and other ways of creating income. I still do the work I care about, I just use what I know in more than one way now.
